So if Bush blows off Baker/Iraq study group what will his plan be for winning the war in Iraq?
1) Start carpet bombing Sunni insurgent strongholds & let the Iraqi national army (w/o US ground troops) clean up the mess and take over the former “Sunni triangle” and western Iraq? War would be over in 3 months.
2) US invades Syria & Iran causing a larger more conventional Mideast war where the US military can use it’s FULL force w/o having to worry so much about collateral damage, take out Iran’s nuclear program and win the war in Iraq?
3)Redeploy all US forces into Kuwait & Afganhistan where they can hopefully contain the Iraq civil war to just Iraq & not a wider Middle East regional war & build permenant military bases in Kuwait/Afganhistan so that the US military will be able to destroy any new terrorists training grounds?
The Iraq Study Group Report is just one more sham that offers no real solutions to Bush’s stupid ‘war’. Here’s why:
1) How can any in-depth “report” be put together so quickly? It had to be a hasty compilation of ideas already expressed;
2) James Baker is an old associate of George H.W. Bush (both are partners in the Carlyle Group, one of America’s largest government contractors since Bush #41 left office, and in which a family by the name of binLaden ivnested $2.5 million). That “report” probably cost taxpayers millions of dollars that went directly to the Carlyle Group;
3) The U.S. government doesn’t even understand the conflicts that have been raging in Iraq between the Sunni and the Shiite cults for 1,400 years. Until our government officials recognize that this is an ongoing civil war, nothing will change;
4) Even this Study Group “report” recommended that “combat” troops be withdrawn – but it didn’t say anything about removing the 40,000 “non-combat” personnel in Iraq. Why? Because the “non-combat” troops are employees of companies like Exxon; Halliburton; Bechtol; and countless other government vendors who will remain in Iraq to control the flow of OIL (which is the only reason we’re in Iraq);
5) If Bush truly expected to withdraw from Iraq by 2009 or 2013 or 2020, WHY is the U.S.A. building the largest embassy in the world on a 104-acre site in downtown Baghdad overlooking the headquarters of the ‘new’ Iraq puppet government installed by the Bush administration?? We will dominate Iraq for decades – perhaps generations – to come, until we’ve sucked every drop of OIL of that nation’s sand.
The nameless, faceless sub-humans who actually control our federal government will order Bush (and future Presidents) to remain in Iraq, just as we’ve remained in South Korea for 60+ years. They will also order Bush – or a future President – to illegally and unconstitutionally invade Ira (just as we did Iraq), and for the very same reason: rich fields of easily-accessible OIL.
As long as there is OIL to continue feeding America’s dependency, the U.S. will be in the Middle East. Not to bring democracy to the region. Not to estabish a new government. Not for “peace”. It’s all for OIL.
Bush has no plan to “win the war” in Iraq – he never did have, and he never will. The Bushites don’t care if the “war” ever gets “won”. They care only about Iraq’s OIL and how that serves American business interests.
And, as long as American motorists continue to drive $60,000 gas-guzzling SUVs, the blood fo 655,000 Iraqis and 2,800 U.S. soldiers (so far) is on the hands of all of us. -RKO-
