I need help getting my dog to walk!!!?
Ever since the Fourth of July when we walked by some people setting off fireworks, my dog wont walk. When we try to go on a walk he will just sit down. I even let him off the leash and I walk down the street. I can go all the way down and come back and he will be either in the same spot or at the door waiting to get back in.Ive tried using treats to coax him and that didnt work. The only way to get him to walk is drive him away from the house in the car and then let my g/f walk him back. Hes only 7 months so still a puppy but i want to break him of this soon. Any ideas?
It sounds to me like it’s the area he has a problem with. He needs time to get his confidence back. Take him walking somewhere else for now. After some time slowly work back to the area that frightened him.
He’s been spooked… It’s just going to take some time. But what ever you do don’t scold him or act like you’re upset with him over it . That will just make it worse.
