Is it time to call an animal control officer or similar…? And how do I…?
For at least two hours now there’s been a dog barking. Odd, I thought, I don’t have any neighbours with dogs I ever hear. And I finally looked out the window, and saw him: loose, in my yard.
He’s skittering around my yard and neighbouring houses. He’s got a collar.
Looking at the collar and finding a phone number would be ideal, but Dog is obviously pretty frightened by this point, and he’s large, and I have NO experience with dogs at all and no idea how to approach him.
Of course, while typing this, he took off elsewhere. Is it still useful to call if I can’t guarantee he’s going to stick around?
If it is time to call somebody, is there something I can give Dog to eat on my back porch so he’s more likely to remain findable by the time somebody gets here? What is a cat-owning vegetarian likely to have in her house that a dog might safely enjoy?
you should have called animal control the first second you saw the dog. its not your job to restrain the dog but if you can than do it that way your sure animal control with get the dog. ummm as for the food. peanut butter, carrots if hell eat it, crackers, cheese. you should never give a dog cat food, but in this case a little bit will be just fine.
and remember if the dog is aggressive, dont reach down while hes eating. dont forget the water.
if he is someones dog, then he should go to the shelter. it will prob be the first place they look. also most people have to pay the get their dog out, this hopefully will teach them a lesson to not let their dog get loose.
