Clothing sizes for dogs?
I live in a cold climate and I run with my dog a lot so I wanted to get her a fleece jacket to wear during the winter. The sizing chart says to measure the dog from the collar bone to the tailbone get the size, but when I do that it comes to 20 inches. She’s a lab/pit mix who is about 50 pounds. She’s definitely not on the large side of the spectrum for the lab breed, but I see that this measurement would have her wearing the largest jacket, which doesn’t seem right to me since she’s more of a medium sized dog. Is there something I’m doing wrong? Any suggestions on what size she should wear? I’m ordering online and don’t want to get the wrong one.
Generally you should measure from the base of the neck at the top of the shoulder blade (wither) to the base of the tail (where the tail begins and the spine finishes)
